Ginger Marinated Tuna Steaks

tuna steaks

If  you are like me and are mainly used to preparing food with canned tuna instead of fresh tuna, then you should give this recipe a try. These ginger marinaded tuna steaks are simple to make but taste amazingly delicious. Using just the best fresh ingredients you are going to love the flavor of this meal. It feels like you are eating a fancy dish in a restaurant.

If you are not a fish lover, tuna steaks are a great introduction into the world of sea food. They are less fishy tasting, easy to cook and have more of a meaty texture.

How to marinade tuna steaks:

To marinade the tuna start off by peeling and grating the ginger. Use the small holes on your grater to get a finer texture. The next step is to place the tuna steaks in a medium bowl and start by rubbing the grated ginger onto both sides. In a small bowl combine the olive oil, lemon juice and coconut aminos and pour evenly onto both sides of the steaks. Finish up by seasoning both sides with garlic powder, sea salt and pepper. Let it marinade for 15 minutes. Now you only need to sear the tuna and you are good to go. You can use the spare time to prepare your side dish.

How to sear tuna steaks:

Heat a large pan over medium high heat until hot. Make sure the steaks are covered with the marinade before you place them in the pan. Sear the steaks for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare. Depending on how you like your tuna steak cooked you can sear it longer. If the pan is getting too hot, lower the temperature to medium. Once the tuna is done, simply place it on a plate and serve it as is or cut it into slices. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for some extra flavor if you do not follow the autoimmune protocol.

Voila, your super fancy delicious and healthy dish is done. This dish is for two people but the depending on the size of your tuna steak it might be for more.

Happy cooking
